Abstract:

Introduction: Oral Candidiasis is the most common lesion in Immuno compromised patients. Using antifungal drugs are routine treatment for this condition. The aim of this study was incorporating photodynamic therapy with low level laser (685 nm), in presence of 2 dyes (methylene blue and tolidine blue), as a photosensitizer on C. albilcans, C. glabrata. C. krusie and C.tropicalis. Methods: In this experimental study, 60 samples (10 sample in 6 group) from candida suspension were radiated with laser (685 nm – 28 j/cm2) in presence or absence of methylene blue or toluidine blue. 0.1 mg/ml from each sample serial dilutions of 10-2 and 10-3 were obtained and aliquots of 0.1 m/ of each dilution were cultured on saburaual dextrose agar. After incubation at 37c for 48h, the number of colony (CFU/ml) was counted. ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Results: Low level laser in presence of methylene blue reduceed the number of CFU/ml in 83.2% for C.albicame and toluidine blue as 88.6%. Conclusion: Our invitro study findings, show that low level laser in presence of dye (toluidine blue more effective than methylen blue) can reduce the number of candida.

Susceptibility of Candida albicans to photodynamic therapy using methylene blue and toluidine blue as photosensitizing dyes.

The increased resistance of Candida albicans to antibiotic therapy indicates the need for alternative treatments for oral candidiasis. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been researched as an alternative tool to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms. It uses a combination of a photosensitizer and a visible light source. This study evaluated the susceptibility of C. albicans to PDT and compared the e...

study the effects of low level laser diode on no production and healing of diabetic and cortisone acetate and normal wounded sd rats

nitric oxide (no) is a small molecule synthesized by most of mammalian cells with diverse biological activities including vasodilatation, host defense and wound healing. impaired wound healing is a common occurrence among diabetics and patients receiving glucocorticoid therapy. on the other hand the application of laser in biomedical area have been increased. thus, the current studies were desi...

In vitro lethal photosensitization of S. mutans using methylene blue and toluidine blue O as photosensitizers.

The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of photodynamic therapy on Streptococcus mutans (A TCC 25175) suspensions, using a red laser for one minute in combination with toluidine blue O (TBO) or methylene blue (MB). Both photosensitizers were used in three concentrations (25, 10 and 5 mg/L). The activity ofphotosensitizers and laser irradiation were tested sep...

Toluidine blue O and methylene blue as endothelial redox probes in the intact lung.

There is increasing evidence that the redox activities of the pulmonary endothelial surface may have important implications for the function of both lungs and blood. Because of the inherent complexity of intact organs, it can be difficult to study these activities in situ. Given the availability of appropriate indicator probes, the multiple-indicator dilution (MID) method is one approach for de...

Evaluation of Photodynamic Therapy with 660 nm Diode Laser and Different Concentrations of Methylene Blue on Candida Albicans growth on Denture(laboratory study)

Background and Aim: Candida has an important role in denture-dependent stomatitis. The use of lasers and light-absorbing materials to act against this fungus has been suggested in some studies. In this study, the antifungal effects of 660 nm diode laser with different concentrations of methylene blue as a light absorbing agent against Candida albicans grown on dentures was investigated. Materia...

Stabilized with Methylene Blue

The in vitro viability, chemotaxis, and labeling stability of leukocytes labeled using 99mTc-exametazime stabilized with methylene blue were evaluated and compared with those obtained using nonstabilized 99mTc-exametazime. Methods: Two identical leukocyte populations, from 30 healthy donors, were labeled simultaneously using freshly prepared and 2-h-old stabilized 99mTc-exametazime. The followi...
